Picardie 31cl Water Glass: Blue Marine vs Grey Sets

Quick answer

Choose the Blue Marine set of 6 if you want a bold, cohesive color for everyday meals and larger households. Choose the Grey set of 4 if you prefer a neutral tone, need fewer glasses, or want to mix them with existing tableware.

Why the set size matters before the color

The Blue Marine option comes as a set of 6, while the Grey option comes as a set of 4. That difference affects how many glasses you can put on the table at once and how often you run the dishwasher. For a household of four or more, a set of 6 usually covers a meal without mixing in other glasses; a set of 4 may be enough for smaller households or as a top-up to glasses you already own.

Both sets use the same 31cl Picardie shape, so the choice is mainly about quantity and color, not capacity. If you are replacing a full set, the six-pack reduces the chance of running short when guests visit.

Color in daily use: bold blue vs neutral grey

Blue Marine is a strong, saturated color that stands out on an open shelf and makes water look crisp. It suits tables where you want the glass to be part of the decor. Grey is quieter and blends with white, wood, and stainless steel, which makes it easier to pair with existing plates and serving pieces.

Consider how often you change your table style. A bold color is a commitment; a neutral grey is more forgiving if you later add other colors. Neither color is inherently more durable—both are made of the same tempered glass—so pick the one you will actually enjoy using every day.

Tempered glass and everyday handling

Both sets are made of tempered glass, which is designed to resist knocks. That matters for glasses that move between the table, the sink, and the dishwasher. Tempered glass is not unbreakable, but it handles the bumps of daily use better than ordinary glass.

Because the Picardie shape is stackable and the 31cl size is versatile, you can use these glasses for water, iced tea, or even desserts. The catalog notes that the Picardie range is available in multiple colors and capacities, so if you later want to expand, you can add other Picardie pieces without changing the style.

Decision rules for choosing your Picardie 31cl set

• Household size and entertaining: If you regularly set the table for 5 or 6 people, choose the Blue Marine set of 6. If you usually serve 2 to 4, the Grey set of 4 is enough. Count your typical place settings, not your maximum guest list.
• Color strategy: Pick Blue Marine if you want the glasses to be a visible accent. Pick Grey if you want them to disappear into a neutral table setting. Check your napkins, plates, and serving dishes before committing to a bold color.
• Storage and stacking: Both sets stack the same way, but six glasses take more shelf space than four. Measure your cabinet if space is tight. A set of 6 may need a deeper shelf or a second row.
• Budget and value: The Blue Marine set of 6 is listed at USD 16.21 (compared with USD 21.90), and the Grey set of 4 is USD 8.27 (compared with USD 12.35). Compare price per glass if quantity is your priority. The six-pack offers a lower cost per glass in this listing.
