A practical look at the Duralex Precisio green measuring cup's accuracy, its clear graduations, and what to expect from a non-tempered glass design.
Quick answer
Yes, the Precisio green measuring cup is accurate enough for everyday cooking and baking. Its transparent glass body and clear graduations let you measure liquids precisely, though it is not tempered like some other Duralex glassware.
Why accuracy matters in a measuring cup
A reliable measuring cup is essential for consistent results, whether you're baking a cake or mixing a salad dressing. The Precisio's transparent walls let you see the liquid level from the side, reducing parallax error compared to opaque cups.
The non-tempered trade-off
The Precisio is made from decorated but non-tempered glass, which means it is not as impact-resistant as Duralex's tempered lines like Picardie or Lys. Handle it with care and avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent cracking.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Precisio measuring cup dishwasher safe?
- Yes, the Precisio is dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to preserve the decorative green coating over time.
- Can I use the Precisio for hot liquids?
- The Precisio is not tempered, so avoid pouring boiling liquids directly into the cup. Let hot liquids cool slightly before measuring to prevent thermal shock.
- How do the graduations hold up over time?
- The markings are printed on the glass and may fade with repeated dishwasher cycles. For long-lasting readability, hand wash and avoid abrasive scrubbers. Consider hand washing to keep the graduations clear.
